UX Designer - London

Passionate about information architecture, evidence-based and user-centred design? That’s good to hear because a successful publishing and media company with a passion for innovation is looking for a UX Designer with these attributes in mind.

You will be working in an agile, collaborative environment where the ability to present your ideas and promote a user-centred approach to design will be valued. As a UX Designer, you will work with a wider creative team to define and create strong user-centric experiences across a wide range of brands. This is a great opportunity to offer guidance and advice on some UX ventures as you will be exposed to both large and small projects that need UX strategic planning, research, architecture and optimization. Your role as UX Designer will involve taking responsibility for some tasks to support a large internal project but you will also have the chance to take ownership for brand-led initiatives as well.

Role and Responsibilities
As UX Designer, you will be responsible for the following:
• Maintain a user-centred and evidence-based approach to UX design
• Ensure the user experience supports the strategic vision, and is achievable within the technical constraints of the project.
• Produce detailed UX deliverables, as required. These may include user journeys, interaction-flow diagrams, site maps, wireframes, prototypes and UI spec documentation
• Design experiences either from concept or as an iteration on existing platforms
• Be able to articulate the importance of modelling content with stakeholders, and facilitate that process
• Be able to sketch, create low and high fidelity wireframes and build simple interactive prototypes
• Be able to and willing to prototype - be it on paper, InVision or using a prototying tool and iterate your ideas
• Assist in facilitating discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to define project objectives
• Use a process of research, design, and validation to create innovative solutions that meet specific business and functional criteria
• Explore and map user needs through audience analysis, user narratives, and process flow diagrams
• Work closely with the creative team to develop the vision of the project
• Collaborate and iterate with developers in fast-paced design-build cycles
• Maintain a strong focus on quality and timely delivery across multiple projects

Skill Set
The successful UX Designer will have the following:
• Content Modelling
• Sketching
• Running Workshops
• Prototyping
• Wireframing
• Journey Mapping
• Research: Interviews, Card Sorts
• Familiarity with the following tools:
• Sketch
• InVision
• Omnigraffle
• Optimal Workshop
• Prototyping software
• Some basic coding (eg CSS/HTML) - for prototyping
• Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign
• Axure RP (not essential)
Not Essential:
• Experience in/exposure to the publishing industry
• Familiarity with WordPress and other CMS
