A global publishing company are looking for a talented and experienced Network Specialist like you. As the Network Specialist you will have broad Infrastructure skills has a specialism in Firewall & Security technologies e.g. Intrusion Prevention and VPN and is the Technology owner of the Firewall, VPN and IPS/IDS estate. The infrastructure team will be an integral prt of my clients growth and you, as the Network Specialist, will be a big part of this.
Role and Responsibilities
As the Network Specialist your responsibilities include:

• To support the team that is responsible for both “keeping the lights on” and working with Project teams to deliver new and upgraded systems. Taking escalations from the Service Desk the Infrastructure team identify and resolve issues and problems.
• The networks team within Infrastructure are responsible for Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Perimeter security, Telephony & Audio Visual technologies. Members of the team will have a broad knowledge across the technologies in the Networks team and beyond, but will also retain a specialism developed in more detail.
• As the technology owner, responsibility for capacity planning, product lifecycles, platform optimisation, development and documentation will fall under the remit of this role, including being the subject matter expert for the Change and Major Incident processes and an escalation point for other team members. You will also own technical relationships with appropriate 3rd Parties and work with the Architecture Team and Security, DR & Backup functions to ensure that the systems are resilient, secure and recoverable.

Skill Set
Essential skills for the Network Specialist:

• You will have experience of running large multisite networks with complex perimeters and connectivity requirements
• “can-do” personality
• Passion for continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Solid PaloAlto firewall experience
• Strong understanding of ITIL and Prince2
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
• Working technical experience with designing, building, configuring and supporting complex systems.
• Able to demonstrate flexibility and motivation, as well as problem solving capability and team working.
• Ability to work with others in a collaborative way
• Technical expert in a range of technologies, who is driven, and able to work on their own
• You will have strong Cisco skills, including IOS,NXOS, Callmanager, and ASA.
• Understanding and hands-on experience of troubleshooting network routing and switching, specifically using Cisco Products
• Good working knowledge of networking security appliances: PaloAlto firewalls, Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco VPN concentrators, F5 FirePass SSL VPN, ActiveIdentity SecureID Server.
• Strong IPSec VPN experience.
• Understanding of IPTelephony based on Callmanager and Zeacom.
• Cisco certification to at least CCNP / CCDP standard.
