Media Assistant - Birmingham

As a Media Assistant you will be working closely with your Account Manager, your role will be to support in the operational management of a range of offline media accounts, across a range of tasks including (but not limited to); planning, buying, research, competitive analysis, campaign reporting and the implementation and management of media activity across a large variety of media channels.

Close monitoring of campaign delivery, performance and optimization across all media channels, ensuring bookings are correctly added to our internal finance system & combined with a gradual understanding of the media planning and buying processes are key to this role.

Role and Responsibilities
Financial Responsibilities of the Media Assistant:
• Take responsibility for the financial running of your accounts.
• Understand the importance of trade insurance, why it is needed and how it applies to each of your clients
• All procedures are adhered to, such as Purchase Orders & PO trackers are in place
• Drafts checked and given back to accounts, including any amendments within 24 hours of receipt
• Follow SOx procedures for all clients bookings
• Understand the need for good administration and ensure that you support your line manager

Business Responsibilities of the Media Assistant:
• Understand how our business makes money and how your day job impacts upon this
• Proactively seeking to immerse yourself within all aspects of media planning & buying
• Seek to establish good relations with media owners relevant to your client’s business
• Acquire a basic understanding of the 2020 Planning Process, MBA and Business Science offerings
• Ability to manage day to day campaigns for your clients and report accurately
• Take day to day responsibility for your clients, campaign optimisation, generating results documents with insight and rationales for future media schedules
• Present client results, marketplace updates and competitive reports
• Have awareness of trade insurance limits/POs and make sure they are requested
• Understand your clients KPI’s and how you can help them achieve them
• Negotiate & buy relevant media space. Responsible for ensuring costs are accurately entered onto DDS

People Responsibilities of the Media Assistant:
• Work collaboratively / build relationships with team members in understanding opportunities, developing plans and innovative ideas
• Build up regular contact with clients, keeping them up-to-date on all media matters, both verbally and electronically
• Ensure your admin is kept up to date (CPD logs, Training, Timesheets, Holiday & sickness forms)
• Take your career management seriously, preparing for performance reviews and attending training planned for you, including pre work or lunchtime workshops and also department sessions
• Share relevant news stories and the good work you and the team do with the rest of the wider agency
• Have a positive and helpful demeanour within the office and with clients

Skill Set
• Develop & apply a working knowledge of basic media concepts & terminology
• Have worked in a media/marketing agency or a media office before
• Able to analyse research and identify key insights
• Learn how to use and interpret core planning tools: eg Com Score, TGI, Mintel
• Demonstrate an active interest in your client’s business, marketplace and consumers
• Demonstrate strong, concise written and oral communication
• Confident presentation skills, both internally and to clients
• Adept at managing a diverse workload, and able to show prioritisation of workload
• Understand ‘storytelling’ and apply it to your presentation style
• Safeguard delivery of campaigns and ensure strong negotiation with media owners when purchasing media space
• Think positively and demonstrate a positive attitude at all times with clients and colleagues alike
