This is the first and most important step to real happiness: CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY. It might sound too easy, but thinking of your work in a positive way will influence your behavior and your state of mind.
When you get to work in the morning, make a short list with your tasks for the day. We love lists. There is no greater feeling then marking things off your to-do list! Just be sure it's short and can be accomplished. You can always add tasks when completing one.
Liking and enjoying coworkers are hallmarks of a positive working environment. Take time to get to know them. They might not become your best friends, but at least people you like to surround yourself with.
Do you really want to hear all about Jane’s argument with the Director? Better you avoid negative conversations and gossip because at one point it will get back to you and bring you down. Be more aware on social evenings… And remember to not speak too freely if you have had a few drinks.
It’s easy to let personal problems slip into the workplace. Avoid sharing too much personal information with your co-workers. Rather seek for outside support and throw yourself into your work to get some distraction.
Make your office a pleasant place to work. You shouldn’t exaggerate, but how about a framed photo of your cats, a decorative pen holder or a souvenir from Bali?
Not a mojito, but plain water. Water helps with everything. Keep a glass of freshly squeezed H2O on your desk. It will help to keep you focused and you will feel amazing!
We all struggle to get up in the morning. But being well rested means you will save time thinking of your bed when you are at work. Switch those screens off at least 1 hour before bedtime.
